In today’s fallen world, Christian parents are looking for better alternatives to public schools. They can no longer just accept the environment and training of the public schools that are filled with corrupt teaching, worldly socialization, violence, bullying, perversion, and persecution. And they need a nurturing Christ-centered approach to teaching their children. The Bible clearly states that the parents are responsible for bringing up their children in this area along with the church. Calvary Chapel Come As You Are has stepped up as a church to shine their light through Christ to give parents a better option. “Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.” (Matthew 5:16)
We were the first Church in the area to align with SchoolhouseTeachers.com. And we thank God that we are able to offer our church as a Schoolhouse, where we come together two days a week to assist parents with home schooling their children. We want to surround these kids with positive and virtuous thoughts through teaching them in biblical discipleship and bringing them up in the fear and abomination of the Lord. This year Calvary Chapel Come As You Are Schoolhouse is providing K-8 classes and we hope to include High School next year. “Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.” (Philippians 4:8)
The Schoolhouse Network is a church-based homeschool co-op program that uses the SchoolhouseTeachers.com curriculum. They offer Christian homeschooling resources and curriculum to families with a full PreK–12 curriculum platform built on a biblical foundation. There are no per-child fees and membership to the curriculum site is the only requirement. As the Schoolhouse Network says, “Just like parenting, homeschooling has good days and hard days, successes and setbacks. Our desire at SchoolhouseTeachers.com is to provide excellent homeschooling materials grounded in a Christian worldview that will help you succeed. We want to hold up your hands and help steady you in the battles you face (Exodus 17:10-13). The Calvary Chapel Come As You Are Schoolhouse will include K-8 curriculum based classes as well as teaching such things as logic, respect for others and themselves, homesteading, and bible study, to mention a few. The schoolhouse works alongside the parents in this journey as this is not a drop-off program. The parents are encouraged to play a key role in their training.
It is a blessing that God has given us this opportunity to serve Him in this way and we will strive to please Him in all we do. We love having these kids and we want them to learn, have fun, and build precious memories!
