Pastor Bart Fowler and wife Nancy
I will begin in the year 1997, when a series of events and bad choices in my life led me to rock bottom and no place to turn but Jesus. I then surrendered to Him as my Lord and Savior my life began to change drastically. I immediately stopped drinking and other things which were destroying my life. God then sent me Nancy, a believer in Jesus Christ, and after three months we got married. We came into the marriage with two children each in the household, she brought Jodi and Joshua and I brought Sara and Jeri. I had another daughter Randi which was an adult and we had a daughter together, Morgan. They all became our children. We lost Randi and Sara in accidents, which was something that only God could handle, He carried us through. I was working full-time at the Post Office as a mail carrier, in 2004 when I got the call from God to preach the word. Nancy, her mom and I started ministry, I started preaching at the nursing home. We then went to Lamplight theatre to have worship on Sunday mornings, then to The Renaissance Center in a classroom. We were basically like a home church teaching God’s word. We truly had it laid on our hearts that we wanted to do church differently than many churches. Welcoming all those just as they are, regardless of their past, ethnicity, position, rich, poor, addictions, letting all know God has a plan for their lives, just as He did for us. He is the one who changes our hearts, heals the broken-hearted. My desire was truly to be an evangelist, I told God I didn’t want to pastor a church, lol. Guess what? God had plans for us that He clearly laid out so we started Come As You Are Ministry, with me as the pastor. When then moved to a store front to hold worship. In 2017 with a little over $300.00 in the bank, we went and looked at a church that was vacant for five years. Nancy, Jennifer (our keyboard player) and I, looked at the church, prayed on the front porch and God answered prayers. We got our little church, which needed much TLC and so we put our hearts into it and so did the others who were coming. Those that weren’t able to do physical labor, helped in other ways, such as prayer. Following a friendship with Pastor Paul of Calvary Tri cities, we realized we taught the same way as the Calvary Chapel movement, Book by book, verse by book, teaching the Word of God instead of just preaching at people. We wanted fellowship with other Pastors and their wives and other of the Calvary Chapel’s. Our little church began the affiliation process to become a Calvary Chapel, and in about two and one half years we became Calvary Chapel Come As You Are. We are part of a movement, not a denomination. All our tithes, offerings and gifts stay within our assembly to pay the bills and use it as God leads us. We are not legalistic, we do not have membership, you don’t have to dress a certain way, we do not pass the offering plate, giving is between you and God, we let God lead us by his Word and the Holy Spirit. We sing songs that glorify God, traditional hymns, contemporary, and some original songs. We are thankful to God, that He began a good work in us, He is faithful and just to complete it. We pray that anyone that does not know Jesus as Lord and Savior will repent and turn to Jesus for forgiveness of sin and eternal life. Find a Bible believing teaching church and learn of Him. Come join us. We would love to have you. Come just as you are, Jesus can do the rest!
